| A lady I used to work with swears that she stopped smoking through hypnosis. She says she immediately lost all desire to light up. I have been a smoker now for nearly 20 years. What are the chances this might also work for me? |

That's hard to say.
Hypnosis is the most effect single smoking intervention, bar one (see the research summary).
Despite that, it doesn't have a huge success rate.
It seems that the most successful way to stop smoking is a combination; for example, a combination of hypnotherapy and support. (The latest research indicates that nicotine replacement has a very low success rate.)
In my experience, the most important aspect is changing the belief. Most smokers don't quit because they believe that it's hard. Each time they try, their belief gets in the way, which then reinforces the belief.
People who believe it's easy often find it easy!
Hypnotherapy is one great way to change that belief. |

When someone comes along for smoking cessation, I generally ask them what they would like to do instead when they would normally be smoking. So, replacing a more positive activity (or activities for different scenarios) in its place.
So far, this approach appears to bring more success than without this process. |

| I quit smoking all on my own four years ago. Did it cold turkey and had no problem at all. My best friend tried it and couldn't do it. So she is currently going through hypnotherapy to stop smoking. To be truthful about it, I can't see where she has even slowed down any. I don't think it is helping her at all. But then again, you have to want to quit for it to work. She is just doing it because the doctor said to. |

I absolutely agree! I never take on a client for smoking cessation where they state they are doing it because someone else told them or wants them to. All initial consultation will be aimed at discovering their own reason to quit that is strong enough, otherwise its a waste of my time and their money to go ahead. Blunt, though is reality.

Hi homeesscents, Hypnosis can help you to get rid of your addiction, but you should also be firm to take the therapy in a positive way. This treatment can help you but you should also be willing to help yourself. I mean that, having an positive attitude and a firm believe in this therapy can make this work quite well. I think that you should be taking smoking hypnosis treatments to help yourself out. |
