| I have never really paid it much attention until the last 10 years or so, but I have found that so many of our political figures lie daily. Has it become so normal that they do not realize they are doing it? |

I think there are a lot of polititions that get bad press because of those other polititions that act unethically...
I have a friend who seems to have a big chip on his shoulder about all polititions - can't help thinking that it maybe easier to tar all with the same brush as apposed to look at the truth of the situation... I suppose in a way that this is a safty seeking behaviour... Who knows? |

I am under the belief that politicians do not actually live in the real world. One interviewer in the UK with a prominent member of parliment asked him how much a litre of petrol was, and he had no idea!!
What with their John Lewis lists and subsidised second homes in the country, they really have no idea what it is like to have to live a real life, to go on a bus, to have to go on a six month waining list for a vital operation. |

You have a strong point here, Andasay.
Is it that they are lying or that they simply have no connection with reality as the rest of the population live it?
My brother-in-law went into the local council because he wanted to fight the councellors who were living of the expense accounts, and to help the tax payer get what they pay for. Today, he's fallen into the same trap, living on a healthy expense account and paying lip-service to the actual needs of the tax-payer so that he doesn't lose his new lifestyle.
Anyone else got any first hand experience?
