I would suggest that hypnotherapy is far less dangerous that other interventions which would include taking drugs or herbal compositions which would affect the toxicology of the body.
The main aspect of hypnotherapy is that the recipient is always in more control that the hypnotherapist of what they accept as a suggestion. They will only accept suggestions that comply with their main core values, and it would be difficult, if not impossible, to get them to do something that they would never agree to normally with some persuasion.
Even with stage hypnosis, there's an element of agreement with the participators mind, otherwise they would naturally resist the suggestions of behaviour, and is why stage hypnotists go through a process of selection for the characters they choose to work with.
What do you think? |

| I think it's pretty safe, as long as you manage to get out of the trance. If you don't, you might get hit by a car or who knows what else. |

There's a recommendation, if I ever saw one, for ensuring you only use hypnosis or self hypnosis in a safe environment, and not whilst walking the streets etc.

Initial response: If a client were to go into a memory or state that is traumatic or highly emotional for them, then the hypnotherapist needs to deal with this empathically and carefully to ensure their safe return to a comfortable state before bringing them out of the trance, to prevent any lasting negative impact. It requires expertise and experience. |
