| Maybe there are some persons who are resistant to hypnosis. I am a very big beginner so I don't know. If that is true than I think strong-willed persons are the one who can resist. |

Anyone can resist hypnosis. It's nothing to do with being strong-willed. If you don't trust either hypnosis or the hypnotist, the chances are that you won't allow it to happen.
Hypnosis tends to work with imagination, because it's all in the mind.

I agree with Paddy.
And to look at this from a slightly different perspective you could say that, actually going into a deep trance is actually a skill.

| I think that yes.Depending on a person's character, that person gets easily hypnotised or it's harder to hypnotise that person. |

I can remember when I did my training, that we were given percentages of the population that could be hypnotised (no idea who did the research).
The philosophy was that the more intelligent you are, the more readily hypnotisable you are, and that it is the people with strong mental disorders or brain damage that are least likely to be hypnotisable.
Hmm, that makes me wonder whether my autistic friend qualifies? |

| I don't think anyone can be hypnotized. I mean, some of us are less susceptible to hypnosis, whilst others can be hypnotized pretty fast. |

From experiance I have found people with mental disorders to be more intelligent than the average. So maybe intelligence has little to d with it??? |

The idea that more intelligent people are more "hypnotisable" is certainly an idea that has made the rounds.
Have you ever seen any research on this? I haven't. The only thing I've specifically been taught is that people with subnormal intelligence (IQ under 70, so I'm told) won't respond to hypnosis, because they can't imagine.
Is it true? I have no idea.

I've never seen any research on it either. I did wonder whether our tutor told us this so that we would adopt the idea and therefore be more congruent when delivering our hypnosis - we already have the concept of success firmly planted?

Point notably taken, since my autistic friend leaves me a-gasp (and a sense of inferiority - whoops) many a time with his intense intelligence in his chosen subjects!
What about the brain damage aspect though? Anyone any thoughts or experience on this one? |
