Hey Frank,

Welcome aboard!

In my experiance Hypnotherapy has been successful when I have been working with clients with drinking issues.

Tell me, what aspect of AA didn't help you?

Of course hypontherapy can help you.If you didn't went to a AA meeting by now, maybe you should, and if that doesn't work, go to hypontherapy.

I have concerns about going to the AA first, as I've worked with people who have attended.

The premise always appears to be that "once and addict, always an addict" - so there's a strong focus on the negative aspect.

Since hypnosis can be used effectively to remove the habit and replace it with something more appropriate that the individual would benefit from, the constant reinforcement that the individual has a problem, even if they are no longer active in the behaviour, and identifying with a ethos that they will never be rid of it, I find inhibits the individual from really moving forward in their life.

How do others see this?

I agree...

Us humans are always in a state of flux or Impermanence. Just cause we are something in one moment, doesn't mean that we have to be the same in the next.

Shame that the tabloids dont pick up on this Wink

From an emotional point of view, I'd agree.

I understand, though, that from a physical point of view, the human body never loses its addiction to alcohol. Therefore, once an addict, the only way to stay clean is to eliminate all alcohol from your diet.

Whilst you can eliminate all desire for alcohol, you can't eliminate the physical addiction. That's what I've been taught.

Alcohol stimulates the release of certain neurological releases, which accounts for the lowering of inhibitions etc., however, there are other ways in which we will also release the same neurological impulses and accompanying hormones, endorphins etc. - high speed roller-coasters, certain types of music .......

So is it an addiction to alcohol, or an addiction to the stimulus of the endorphins etc? In which case, these are perfectly natural and is it truly an addiction at this point?
