Hi all,
Has anyone had any luck with a hypnotherapy home study course?
I trained through a school and have always been skeptical of any hypnotherapy home study course that I have seen offered all over the net and in magazines...
So, have you taken a hypnotherapy home study course that has helped you to train as a professional hypnotherapist?
Or, do you disagree with a person practicing hypnotherapy after studying only a hypnotherapy home study course?
Comments please... |

I think your on to something, I don't think the books can offer what one might get training in a school.
In fact the books wouldn't really make much sense until put into practice.
A person could learn to ride a bike from a book only to find the actually riding a bike is totally different..
They could offer more to a person from a specialist approach, but these are quite rare are they not?
I think that writing books are like shark waters..Dangerous.
No matter what original thought a person has, someone else has probably already thought it..
So the book ends up just being someone elses regurgitated
thoughts.
Your right, books stink - schools good. |

The bicycle metaphor was good.
Books are excellent for the theory. Just as a book can tell you the theory of how to use a bicycle, what's safe and what's dangerous, and different types of bikes for different terrain; but it can't tell you how to cycle.
The same with hypnotherapy. You need both the books and hands-on training...
AND personal experience. |

So, is it thumbs down for any hypnotherapy home study course then?
I would be real interested in hearing for an individual that has used a hypnotherapy home study course that found it useful and fulfilling.
Anybody? |

What kind of 'Hypnotherapy home study course' are you referring to?
How do you know about them?
...being happy with your training, are you thinking of launching a Home study course? or are you thinking of purchasing one?

Any...
I am just interested as to hear if anyone has found a benefit in using one. I have no interest in purchasing or producing one, just interested in how others have found these courses. |

Hi
I know of an extremely successful hypnotherapist who initially learnt hypnotherapy from a book and practised on friends with brilliant effect and subsequently went on to complete recognised training.
This person had had so much experience with real people on a lets see if it will work basis that maybe it took the pressure off them to succeed and worked really well for both parties. Food for thought!

I believe learning from books is not as help full what people think.
It all depends on the person, when I read something and than put it into practise, sometimes it doesn't work or find another way.
I rather "learn on the Job", but everyone is different.
