Hi all,

I just saw on the news this morning about an expected hypnotist thief in Italy.

I am sending this post from my mobile, so I haven't got a link. Hopefully one of you guys can find a news link and post it here in the thread. Wink

The link on the BBC:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/7309947.stm

It also has a link to a video clip taken from the security cameras.

I take these reports with a pinch of salt, because there are too many unknowns that are not reported in the press.

This is not the first time i have heard a story relating to hypnotherapist theft. There have been stories of a hypnotherapy handshake which has sent the hypnotised person home and for them to come back with cash and gold for the thief!
how would this be explained?

I agree with Paddy...these reports should be taken with a grain of salt.

I work for law enforcement so I know first hand how much the news distorts from the real story....you can't even begin to imagine the kind of stuff that doesn't get reported and all the false information that does!!!

And if this really is true...this guy has to be one hell of a damn good hypnotizer!!

There's the story of how the Grandaddy of Hypnosis - Milton Erickson - was to face a panel of his peers refuting his work with hypnosis and faced being sacked. The story goes that he met one of his colleagues in the corridor and shook his hand combined with a particular hypnosis technique, after which the subject never came to panel and Erickson continued in his work.

This sounds like a way of utilising the story with a more negative slant.

Personally, I believe that anyone who would go away after this handshake and bring back all their money has very low core values for their subconscious to allow this to happen without being alerted. I would suggest they're naturally gullible rather than hypnotised.

I read about this happening not to long ago where they hypnotized a cashier in a gas station and then proceeded to rob it. I would think that this would be hard to prove that you were actually hypnotized?
