I read with interest some time ago that this was connected in some cases to temporal lobe epilepsy. I would love to hear if anyone else has heard or read this.

The emotion déjà vu can be reliably created by stimulating a specific part of the brain with an electrical impulse.

It seems - perhaps - that the specific form of temporal lobe epilepsy stimulates this same part of the brain.

I did read somewhere (but sorry, didn't find the reference) that scientists have found the specific chemical that creates the feeling of déjà vu.

Also refer to Wikipedia.

All I know is that it is kind of creepy to me at times when it happens. I literally stop what I am doing and am like I feel like I have done or said this before.
