This article is from 2005, but it's still quite interesting. Apparently a woman relied on hypnosis during giving birth and says that it helped her have a pain-free experience.

I admit that it's an interesting claim, but I don't think I would ever be willing to take the chance. |

Having given birth twice without pain relievers, I don't think hypnosis can remove the pain of childbirth.
It might be this woman's expectations for pain were greater than she actually experienced and she has chosen to interpret this as pain free! |

If hypnosis can eliminate the need for any anaesthesia for the pain and nausea of abdominal surgery, or for the enormous pain of the complete removal of two front teeth and their replacement with implants, with all the drilling and cutting through gums that it requires...
... Then I'm sure it can remove the pain of childbirth.
Your subconscious has total control of your perceptions. If it has the right training and motivation to cut out your pain, then it will do so.
Women having used this don't report that the pain was manageable. Instead, they report that there was no pain. Nothing to have to manage. That's a big difference.
Hypnosis doesn't work on everyone for pain relief; but when it does work, it works amazingly.
