Two interesting stories today about cod liver oil.

Cod liver oil 'treats depression'

Cod oil 'cuts arthritis drug use'

I have been taking malt extract with cod liver oil on and off for many, many years. Anyone else for cod liver oil?

Hi Paddy, nice topic!

Studies into fish oils and depression\anxiety have been going on for a while.

Can't remember where I saw it but I saw a very encouraging report that looked into the benefits of Omega3 and anxiety...

Flaxseed is another oil high in Omega3...

My father swears by cod liver oil and flaxseed. He has been taking them daily for quite some time now. Omega 3s have been highly popularized in the media thanks to their ability to possibly reduce the risk of coronary heart disease. I have yet to try them myself, but would be open to it.

My mother has taken cod liver oil for years and swears by it too. Interesting as it was only just talked about on the TV this morning.
I never knew cod liver oil contained anti inflammatory and pain killing properties. Studies showed those that suffer with osteoarthritis that take cod liver oil regularly were able to cut back on inflammatory drugs they were taking beforehand.

I am not a very good pill taker i start off meaning well, then after a week or so i start forgetting to take them.

My parents are taking fish oil. They say it is good for helping to keep your blood vessels from getting clogged with plaque. I have heard good things about cod oil but have not personally taken any myself.

I got told that I have this two weeks ago so I am going to give it a shot! It is very much in the early stages at them moment so I have decided not to take any painkillers, so this could be just the thing...

I have heard it is good for the joints also. Hope that this will be of help to you. It would sure beat the medication if you don't have to go on it.

I have started just a couple of weeks back and I think that I am starting to see a benefit. The pain in my feet have now gone and this morning I was able to go for a short jog. I will keep you all updated with my progress. Very Happy
