One problem with modern hypnotherapy is the extreme but unfounded claims that are sometimes made, such as breast enlargement or cure for AIDS.
However, there are a few medical conditions where hypnotherapy can help, sometimes only with the symptoms (e.g. pain), and sometimes with the problem itself (e.g. menopausal symptoms).
It's important to keep in mind that whilst hypnotherapy does help many people with certain medical problems, it doesn't help with all medical problems, nor does it work with absolutely everyone.
Still, there are more and more studies being made to test the limits of hypnotherapy, with some encouraging results...
