Hello!

I have been interested in hypnosis for several years and read a couple hypnosis books and purchased some tapes and video's. I have decided to stop 'dabbling' and commit myself to my education on the subject. I will finish my certification in Clinical Hypnotherapy in May. I entertained the idea of getting a 'do-it-yourself' kit from the internet, but took the advice of all the research I did and found a hypnotherapy school with NHG accredited teachers.

Thank you for the welcome, hypno-therapist!

My instructors are John Gatto and Anthony De Marco. I went onto NGH.net to find a school. They aren't the closest to me, but offered the most hours of instruction at 100. I have read such differences of opinion regarding training times, varying from 40 to over 400 hours. What to believe, what to believe...?

Adam...

The training never really stops. Wink

100 is quite low for initial training, but then again I have seen courses run by scrupulous individuals that offer training in as little as 50 hours...

It is unfortunately a mine field...

Yes, I've learned there are some very questionable sources of information out there. I decided to put my trust in the NGH and the individuals they endorse as qualified to teach hypnosis. After completion, I have about 15 books I will read and apply. I think that will give me a strong grasp of the fundamentals.

Great... There art loads of great books out there to study along with your training...

Tell me... What made you feel that the NGH was trustworthy? Not that I particularly think they aren't, I just have an interest in how people arrive at conclusions like this.

Now that I look back on my posts, I didn't mean to sound as though I am putting blind trust in the NGH. I have found that many, many CCHt's use them as a reference point. More than any other organization. I concluded(wrongly?) they are the 'industry standard'.

Also, I went to John Gatto and Anthony De Marco's website to find out about them and their credentials. John Gatto has a Masters of Science from St. John's University and Anthony De Marco has graduate degree's from Seton Hall and his Ph.D. from St. John's. These universities are pretty well regarded in the states.

The combination of the largest hypnotism organization endorsing them and having graduate degree's from some prestigious universities give me cause to think they know what they are doing.

Hypno-Therapist, I appreciate you taking the time to discuss this with me. I am a true beginner in the field and am open to all suggestions regarding further training and advice.

Thank you!

OK, the session has been canceled. I am very bummed right now. I would love to find a competent school of hypnosis in my area(philadelphia/new york/baltimore/D.C.).

Back to square one...
