OK lets discuss. Is it possible that EFT works for the same reason that your NLP exercise works?

At what level?

The higher-level principles are entirely different. NLP works by using the mental manipulation that the brain uses, including that of the subconscious.

The other part that I mixed in affects how the reptilian part of the brain works in response to stress.

EFT works by means as yet unknown (although a fair number of people have made rather extravagant claims about how it works). At this stage, it seems to work in the same way as Energy Medicine, but be aware that advanced EFT uses a certain degree of NLP, too.

At the lower level, however, they all do the same thing: They reprogram the subconscious response to triggers.

I suppose you could think of it this way. I have at least five different routes that I could use to get to the supermarket. Any of them will get me there; some are faster, some are prettier, some are more interesting. But they all get there. (Some methods, of course, are like going to your local supermarket via the moon and a couple of asteroids.)

Whether you choose to use EFT, NLP, hypnotherapy, Reiki, CBT, massage therapy, whatever... That all depends on a mixture of your personal preferences, the therapist's training, and the specific problem at hand.

Energy Medicine? But how does that work? We are told, 'by the manipulation of Qi', but this hasn't been proven to exist.

Seems like 'Clown Therapy' for adults to me. However I still hold out that it does in fact work and am still a supporter of it. It would just be nice to have a discussion on how it works and see if we can come up with any new theories Very Happy

It's about taking away the negative "charge" attached to anything. It could be a memory that you hold, but not necessarily.

Now don't laugh, but could EFT work for someone who's been a bit traumatized from getting into serious relationships because he/she has been cheated on?

Yes.

Find a good practitioner, and you should find that the process clears a number of related issues.

So you just started crying because something came up? Not to be noisy but what was that certain something? If it was a bad memory than probably it made you cry. Otherwise you have some problems.

This is the first time i've ever heard of EFT, the article was a great read and i can see how it would help in anxiety. I only wish i heard of this technique when i was suffering with panic attacks!
