Reframing context means looking at something in a new way in a new circumstance. As a manager, I found it very useful when people came to me with overgeneralized complaints. (He always, he never...)

For example,
A: She always takes too long to make decisions.
B: I understand that can sometimes that can be really annoying. But when we have to sort through whether or not to accept a big contract we really need someone who sorts through all the information slowly and systematically. Incidentally, her comments were key in helping us to decide whether or not we should hire you. (Our company conducted short peer interviews to give teams input into hiring decisions.)

this reminds me of job interviews where they ask you to turn your weakness into a strength (or the reverse). You are detail-oriented (good) but it may lead to things taking too long (bad). Is this what you mean?
