Hey all,
Just searching around and stumbled across this http://www.everythingprovided.co.uk. Trust me I am not posting this link as an advertisement! I am just amazed that people go down this route to make money.
Whatever next! |

Are you worried that the advertisement is giving false promises?
Or are you worried that people do hypnotherapy just for the money, without having a passion for the subject?
Incidentally, the website gives bank statements as "proof" of income. Er, that's hardly proof!
I'm concerned that the training is home-based and doesn't seem to include residential training. The cost is awesome, though... a few thousand less than I paid for my various courses!
I'm not convinced about the guarantee, though. "Make £1,000/$2,000 or your money back." Over what time period, I wonder? Within one month and one week of completing the course?
If the marketing information is good, then that part of the course would be worth the money -- even if you have no intention of doing hypnotherapy!

Very naively, many years ago, I initially took a correspondence course in Clinical Hypnotherapy by a well known UK organisation that still runs the courses today.
I easily passed the qualification (well it was 'easy' - they made sure you would pass), and there was no 'practical' assessment to endure. I qualified to be insured and able to practice.
Despite all of that, my own conscience told me that I was unable to bring myself to put someone in a room with me and call myself a hypnotherapist. I recognised that I had enjoyed a brief introduction to the subject though I would be ill equipped to deal with some of the trickier problems that clients can typically present.
So I waited several more years before I did anything about it, worked on my other therapies, and eventually took myself off to be properly trained, assessed both academically and practically, before venturing to call myself qualified.
Would have liked the marketing training to go with it though! |

Yeah marketing is something that a lot of hypnotherapist and therapists in general find hard. I should be launching something in the late summer to help therapists for this which will be a free resource, so look out for it.
@Paddy, my main concern is that for the princely sum of almost nothing, these guys make out that you could train as a hypnotherapist. It seems like real bargain basement stuff that certainly will not help to raise a positive profile of our profession.
In our field the training should at least be 1 year with over 50% hands on learning. It would be interesting to maybe do the course under a victious name and see if the GHR would have me (or Butchie - my doggie) as a member with my new qualification. A bit like my infamous colleague, Zoe - http://www.hypnosisnetwork.com/articles/index.php |

Blimey, I've got three cats, so I ought to be raking it in with all the clients they could get through in a day!
Hmmm, this is an area treading much frequented grounds which affect so many industries - barely trained people masquerading as professionals.
Once upon a time if you to were to learn Indian Head Massage, you first had to qualify in a six month long Anatomy and Physiology qualification, and then still embark on the training plus case studies and an exam for Indian Head afterwards. Now hairdressers take a half day course to use it in their salons!
Plus, these barely trained individuals then offer their services at really base rates and prospective clients on a budget expect to get results - then complain about the whole industry when they find their expectations amounted to zero.
Yep, I'm walking old ground again .........

I understand all points here.. However, I do feel that before hopping onto just about anyones couch, unzipping my mind and letting anyold so and so tread their muddy boots through my fragile mind, I would want to know whats what before...
Either recommendation or referal is probably a good start*
I wonder, what is this thread really asking?
