Hi All,

Self belief is important and everybody has something that they would love to do but most of the time they just sabotage their success by saying ?I can?t do it?! Remember the attitudes displayed by children. The ?I?ll try anything? attitude. Well we seem to lose this as we grow. I want you to think back and allow your mind to remind you of all the times in the past that you have made a success. Whether it is in a relationship, your education, your career or just making ends meet at the end of the month. Close your eyes and imaging all of these times and notice that success in a quality that you have. Now picture all that you have done in the past and measure it up with what you want to do in the future. Feel that motivation? Begin to imagine your goals with excitement while almost day dreaming about how great reaching them would be! This works as with a limiting self belief we always associate negative feelings and thoughts to our goals, however now you can remember the great things that you have achieved in the past and associate them with your goals in the future.

Also take a look here, but watch out as this is will give 'super-motivation' - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rtxxmSZxfXs

I like this aproach to self motivation. Using past good experiences as your fuel in the success of future ones. I will definatly give this a try!

Hi John,

This tip is a great one. In fact I just used it in an article for Top Sante (March Edition) I hope the editor keeps it in as it is really successful - and easy to use!

Let us know your feedback when you use it and what results you get!

Thanks for sharing that Video. I've been a practitioner of self-motivation (although I didn't know it's called that) for nearly 20 years. It's like I always go... Go Fella! Go Fella! Go Fella! Very Happy Seriously though, I believe that we have to believe in ourselves first before we can get others to believe in us.

But I'd like to ask, what are the dangers of super-motivation, aside from plunging to death like that super climber/bungee jumper who sorely tested the limitations of his equipment or getting alienated from friends? Thanks.

BTW, I already have a bad knee, wrist, back, and shoulder for being too motivated. Very Happy

I agree this is a great way for self-motivation as well! To take past experiences where you yourself know you have succeeded is great advice and I have done it personally and have done very well. When you are up to bat at something, you yourself are the only one that knows if you can truely do it, so therefore you are truely one of the only ones that can motivate yourself to do it.

Thanks for sharing this, I love this method of self motivation, I havent checked out the link but definitely will do. I often use a similar method to teach my students as I am always hearing 'I can't'.
