Mature?? I hope that you mean in attitude and not age...

Gil, I simply can't agree with this - I make a considerable amount of money in clinic, however that can never match the money that my business makes in online product sales - as these sell worldwide and even while I sleep. It makes over 70% of my income, but I don't consider myself a less successful Hypnotherapist, due to my online success! |

Yes, it can.
I would strongly suggest that you also work with a nutritionist to ensure that you eat the correct foods, and healthily.
Do you exercise? If not, start doing that, too. But be sure that you have the OK from your doctor, and if you can afford it, employ a professional fitness trainer.
Those three things together - hypnosis, exercise and nutrition - should help tremendously.
If you smoke, that's another serious problem. Also reduce all intake of caffeine (coffee, tea, coke, chocolate...), and ensure you drink sufficient water. These things also affect your weight.

I havent started exercising again yet. I dont quite have all my energy back. Ive started Yoga at home though, its the most I can handle right now.
I think you may be pushing it with the cutting down on chocolate things though
I already have to drink 5 litres of water a day and have 8 salt tablets because I live in a very hot area and people with CF lose more salt when they sweat than other people. I have to admit, you have all made me feel a lot more positive about getting better. I was at the stage where I just wanted to give up trying to get better because I was sick of feeling horrible all the time. |

OK, if you can at least cut down on chocolate, then you can cut out all other sources of caffeine.
A normal healthy body can easily cope with small amounts of poison (such as a bar of chocolate every other day); but a daily influx of coffee, tea, chocolate and caffeine drinks on top of all the other rubbish we tend to eat in the modern world is just too much.

Hello Paddy,
Can you fill us in on just how negative caffeine is to the body?
I must say that I followed your tip of cutting down on caffeine a few months ago and increasing my water intake and I have been feeling much better - so thanks Paddy! |

I could go on for an hour or so about diet. However, I'll just mention a bit here.
- Caffeine dehydrates you (as does alcohol). You can drink tea, coffee and caffeinated drinks all day long, and you'll be dehydrated at the end of the day. Not to mention the suffering to your kidneys and liver.
- As with any other recreational drug, caffeine is a joker. You drink caffeine to increase concentration, but a side-effect is to cause you to lack concentration. Thus, it helps to cause the very problem that it pretends to solve. If you cut out caffeine altogether, your general concentration will increase (after a couple of weeks of adjustment), even when you're tired.
- Again, like other recreational drugs, it's addictive. That's one of two big reasons that children drink so much coke and other caffeinated drinks when they're allowed to.
- Caffeine stimulates your heart. Your heart has enough to do, pumping at least 5 litres every minute and coping with a lack of water and of oxygen (most people breathe badly), and the garbage that so many of us throw down our throats, without having a drug nagging at it: "Beat faster! Beat faster!"
The best advice I can give for drinking is to get a good water filter, and use it. (Unfiltered tap water tastes awful, and for good reason.) Since getting a water filter, two of my children have spontaneously taken to drinking water instead of flavoured drinks, with only occasional exceptions.

Awesome advice Patty. Well it appears that I am to limit myself to only four maybe three redbulls a day instead. lol j/k. I am really going to be considering your words the next time I consider the thought of drinking soda or caffeine.

Hi John,
Here's an experiment for you! Try cutting out all caffeine for five days and replace it with water, fruit juices and fruit tee! After five days, start drinking caffeinated drinks again at your old rate. I did this and it certainly showed me the negative effects of caffeine. |

Hypnosis isn't placebo; rather, placebos are hypnosis. But, you're often right that when you pay for the service, you're more committed. That's true of many things, though: If you buy a cheap mini, you're less likely to look after it than if you buy a Ferrari!

I like what you are saying here Paddy Landau.
Anyway, I successfully quit smoking. Now, I am trying to lose weight. I need to lose at least 15 kilos. I must conquer this battle! |

Hi The Fantomaya,
What are you doing to lose the weight? Have you got any ideas for any lifestyle changes yet?
Good luck and 'Bon Voyage' to those 15 kilos |

I know many people who have used hypnosis and tapes for weight loss purposes, and from my observations it seems like hypnosis is more effective.
I think it may be from an actual person telling you that you are going to be thin and can be thin, whereas a tape can only provide an audio recording as opposed to human interaction. |

Hey BCat,
Tapes and CD's can also be very effective for a whole range of issues - including slimming. |

| the above discussion has been both interesting and informative . All I know is I've been a food aholic for most of my life and tried many programs to address this issue to no avail . Last year I took an nlp course and in one of the activities we were to practice some technique that uses hypnosis. My partner practiced on me with my food issue . We worked on my obssession with cheese .n If it was there I ate it . Now I don't eat cheese . I can only say that it works. Wether you call it the placibo (I like that )effect or that there is no imperical data is not really important is it ? For me it worked ! Thanks |
