Self-Hypnosis and deep meditation?

Both put you into a clear minded almost trance like state from what I am told and so I was wondering what the differences if any there are?

Sure, I practice both Self-Hypnosis and Mindful Awareness Meditation and have to say that they are both different.

Both allow you to feel relaxed and in a trance state, however in hypnosis you are guiding yourself directly to your goals by suggestion and in meditation you simply allow to be what is...

So, in a nutshell I would say that the goal of hypnosis is to 'do' and the goal of meditation is to 'be'...

Do you practice either hypnosis or meditation? I would be interested on the thoughts of others...
