Has anyone heard of this before? I am deathly afraid of the dentist to the point where I will make myself literally sick before I go to one. Someone was telling me about this and I had never heard of it. I could see how it might relax you into being more receptive and calm when going to the dentist.

Very common.

There are two sides to dental hypnosis.

One is what you've described, which is the fear of dentists. Both hypnosis and NLP can deal with this problem fast, usually in a single session.

The other is the pain itself; using hypnosis instead of local anaesthesia to do dental work. It doesn't work with everyone, but when it works, it's amazing.

I used to live in another country for 2 years, when I went to see a dentist to have a filling done, he did not offer me an injection he instead put on relaxing music.
