EFT and Scientology use entirely different methods.
I read Hubbard's "Dianetics" some years ago, and had a friend who, being involved, gave me some insights.
Its method was a basic form of waking hypnosis (although, to my amusement, Scientologists decry hypnosis as evil and claim that they don't use it). Among other things, it makes use of regression (again, a common hypnotherapeutic tool) and a gradual changing of perspective on unpleasant memories.
While the technique can work, it's laborious and time-consuming, and can be terribly unpleasant, mixing as it were Freudian ideas with hypnosis.
There are, of course, other aspects of Scientology.
EFT is a much more basic approach, and tends to work faster for most people and most emotional issues. It also attempts to reduce significantly the amount of unpleasantness during the process. EFT doesn't explicitly use hypnosis, although some practitioners say that its process is akin to (waking) hypnosis.
In summary, although there are some similarities, there are extensive differences between EFT and Scientology.
