How can you turn your inner voice into something positive, i get the usual
little voice that runs through my head triggering self doubt and a lack of self confidence. It usually sounds like this: "you can't do that!"; "are you daft?"; "they'll laugh at you!" and " you're going to fail!".
how can i break this negative self chat? |

Become and impartial spectator of your thoughts and feelings. Don't think thing just because you think that you have too... Design what goes on in your gray matter instead of just following its default settings. |

I've written a brief article on this before, with a couple of links to resources at the bottom.
Go to my website (see my signature below), and search for gremlins in the search box on the right.
I hope it helps.

| For lack of self confidence I will suggest to hear some success stories and increase faith in yourself by reviewing your past acheivements. Dont listen to others much. |

A good way to quiten your negative inner chat is to notice when it is happening, then place your tongue on the roof of your mouth just behind your teeth.. |

I tend to find myself with negative chatter too....often times when I end up not going to work out when I have had plenty of time to do so and I was lazy and just relaxed on the couch instead.
A lot of times when I find myself thinking like this I tend to remember accomplishments of my past and really try and focus on them to send my negative tude or "gremlins" as paddy likes to refer to them to the curb.
So I would suggest try that! |

Yes it does, and if you slightly breath in a bit more oxygen, (slightly) it changes the pattern of what your doing (negative chatter) into something else.
It reminds me of a song I heard once, "Silence is golden" |

Something I have found helpful is to figure out who's voice you are really hearing.
Often, those words are not our own but those of people who wished to control us in one way or another. Parents, teachers, bosses, and lovers might all be in there.
Just as language isn't truly our own, because it is taught to us by others, those voices might not be your own either! |

Be sure to NOT mention to medical professionals that your hearing voices!
I'm pulling your leg, your right, sometimes the words of my mother still ring in my ears as im putting an extra sugar in my tea.
In some circles its called 'parts therapy' it basically describes a person as many parts. Carl Jung loved it, its very interesting, you should research it, it will all make sense, and its a great art of being centred.
In other circles these 'parts' are believed to be 'angelic forces' 'guardian spirit guides' etc.. |

| That's funny that you should mention this self-doubt because I just had a conversation with someone who was having the same problem. My advice was to focus on what you are good at and anytime a negative comment pops up, replace it with some positive ones. Or really delve into the problem you're having and maybe you'll find a solution or realize that it's not really a weakness, and it's actually something you're good at. |

You say to the psychiatrist, "I was telling myself that..."
The psychiatrist says to himself, "Oh dear, she hears voices, she must be mad!"
(Fortunately, things change, and psychiatrists aren't quite like that any more.)

A psychiatrist or psychologist, wouldn't jump to the wrong conclusion here as there are quite clear guidelines... Its GP's that you have to be concerned about. You would be supprised as to how uneducated a lot of them are in regards to mental health issues...
Its shocking... |

I think you make progress to once you realize what is going on and that it is not healthy. These are the things that lead to a low self esteem and show a shaded self image. I think you would be surprised to find how many regular every day people go through this same thing.
As a personal sufferer with a strong will I found that continuing on regardless of these doubts that invaded my mind I was able to pretty much get over it. |
