If we don't know what area of the world you're in, we can't recommend someone!
Hypnotherapy can work well with nightmares.
There are other ways to approach this, too.
It depends exactly on your life circumstances -- what in your life causes these worries?

morning,
this is what i've posted on another forum, bit more detailed... and i live in london
hi everyone.
i'm new to this so please bear with me
i've been suffering from nighmares (among other things ) for a very long while. to be honest i've probably always had them but didn't think much of it when i was young... some night are fine as i can't remember the dreams or they not very intense, but most nights i have really vivid dreams that wake me up... Sometimes i actually sleep withthe light on - i'm 28!!! and a bit old for this really .
apart from this once the sun is gone i get very frighten with absolutely no reason, tho i keep telling myself that it doesn't help. if i'm alone in the house i jump at every sound and i'm very aware of what's happeing around me (if this makes any sense).
i'm very stressed during the day and always rushing even when there's no need. i getting all confused - i don't know if my days are so stressfull coz i dream so bad or my dreams aree so bad coz i'm so stressed during the day...
anyway, i've benn thinking for a while that maybe i should try hypnotherapy tho i know nothing of it hence why i'm here...
i've read a post earlier that hypnotherapy shouldn't be used by people suffering from depression and i may have a mild form of it. i'm very pessimistic so maybe it's more that than depression - i'm all confused now:)
i would really appreciate some thouhgts on this if pos.
thanks! |

Hypnotherapy generally is great with depression, especially when used together with certain other therapies such as NLP. It won't interfere with any help that you may be getting from a counsellor or doctor.
Feel free to see a qualified hypnotherapist for the "blues" and for your nightmares.
Set aside a specific time every day to go for a long walk, at least half an hour. Do this in the countryside or a large park if you can easily get to it. Let us know what happens.

| I personally don't suffer from nightmares. But my six year old gets what they call night terrors. I was told that nightmares can be caused a lot of time due to stress or changes in your environment and daily life. At least this is what his doctor told me. I am new to hypnosis in general so don't want to suggest that it would work or not but I would suggest if at all possible that you try to reduce your daily stress. I know it is probably easier said than done. |

Long walks (or even shorter ones) do indeed seem to battle a multitude of ailments. I have to wonder, however... when depression is involved, isn't the lack of motivation to do something like walking or other exercising, part of the problem?
Granted, I'm not talking about "the blues" here but true clinical depression. I have to assume that for many folks, getting UP to go for that walk would be nearly impossible in their mind. |

Whenever I start a new job or work a lot of hours I usually end up having 'nightmares' that are a variation of me doing my job naked or just in boxer shorts! Usually I don't have nightmares but stress can cause your mind to do wild things, especially when you're asleep.
I think trying to sort out the route of your nightmares -- the stress presumably, will do a lot toward helping you toward lessening or stopping them from occurring. |

You're right I think that depression can make it where people cannot get up or even begin to help themselves. It seems like a vicious cycle in some sense.
I have heard people that when they start a new job that the stress involved has had them dreaming weird dreams concerning the job. |
