Hi!

I first heard of NLP here and have done a quick browse on the topic. Looks useful, even for everyday interaction with people. What does it take to be a practitioner? Is a medical background needed? Thanks. Smile

you just need to by certified by an aproved (don't ask who by) trainer, no medical background needed, similar to hypnotherapy.

Was it that NLP is a part of Hypnosis? Therapy?
or Visa Versa?

No, you don't need medical background. You need to be competently trained, however.

The therapy part of NLP came about by modelling successful therapists in a specific way (using the core part of NLP). Hypnosis was a particularly effective tool, and so has been incorporated as standard into NLP.

Since then, hypnotherapy and certain other therapies have in turn borrowed from NLP.

So, in this case, the egg came first. Confused

It stands for "Neuro-Linguistic Programming". I'm new to it as well and don't want to try to offer a definition at this point as I'm still learning about it from poking around the threads here.

From what I've read I'm definitely interested in learning more about it however.
