Hello people!
I have just found the forum.
I want to know so much about hypnosis as I am a psychologist who is researching the theory. At present I must say that the evidence suggests that it is just another ineffective pseudoscience, however I am wiling to be open minded and learn otherwise. |

Hypnosis of course. What is your understanding of the process?
Do you think that it is an effect therapeutic modality?
Is it not dishonest working with something that has such little understanding or clinical evidence?
Is there a definitive definition of what hypnosis and hypnotherapy actually are?
I am wiling to be open minded and learn your points of view.

Welcome to the forum
I would love to see this evidence; I can normally get my mind around the most obscure and abstract theories but on this one I have to admit defeat and that is very unusual.

Hello
This was just from things that I have read so far. They might not be 100% correct but then again what is? |

I totally agree with you, one can never be sure of what you read or hear, but I have a number of policies that have stood me in good stead,
1. Never say that some thing is impossible or possible unless you are in possession of All the facts, not some of the facts, not most of the facts and don’t ever assume that you have all the facts be 110% sure. All this comes down to being broadminded.
2. NEVER EVER under estimate or more importantly over estimate some ones ability or lack of ability in any field of endeavour. That is just because some one has a bit of paper that says they are an expert in some field, it does not automatically mean that they know what they are talking about, it all comes down to how they can intrepid the information they were given and how they apply it to the real world.
I think that under estimation is the worst disease in the world, everyone has something to contribute if only they were given their say.
3. Learn exactly how the brain works from the start and then everything else falls into place like clockwork.
Before I take this any further I think you should read all my other posts on other threads most of them relate to how our brains work, and if you can take all that on board, I think most of your questions will be answered.
Go to the top and keep the learning curve short.

There has been quite a lot of research into hypnosis. For example, hypnosis has been found to be the second-most effective intervention for quitting smoking.
However, if we had to restrict ourselves to working with what we understood, we'd have to stop relying on gravity or on growing crops.
